Classes and students
Student Groups is the roster. It is not the exam, and it is not a teacher invitation.
Create a class
Section titled “Create a class”Open Student Groups and create a class. Give it a name, and a grade or subject when you have them. A class with no students yet is normal. Add people when you are ready.
Add students
Section titled “Add students”Three ways, all on the class:
| Way | What happens |
|---|---|
| Email list | Each address is added. An address already on the roster is left alone |
| CSV | The file is read for email addresses. Rows that are not addresses are skipped and named |
| Join link | You copy a /join/<token> link. A student opens it, sees the class and school name, and enters an email. A name is optional |
The join page is the one place a student reaches without signing in, other than an exam share link. It adds them to that class. It does not create a teacher account, and it does not open an exam.
A retired join link says so and does not offer a retry that could revive it. Send a new link.
Bin and restore
Section titled “Bin and restore”Move to bin hides a class from the active list. Students and subjects are kept. Restore brings it back. The bin is not a delete.
Sharing an exam with a class
Section titled “Sharing an exam with a class”Send exam to group lets you pick an exam and copies a share link. It does not email the roster. The toast says the link was copied. Checking the class under Assign to groups in the exam’s Share dialog does not restrict the link to people on the roster either.
If you need students on a list, use the join link. If you need them to sit a paper, send the exam link. They are different tokens.
