Taking an exam

Students do not create an account. They open the link you copied from Share.

  1. The exam title, and duration or instructions when you set them.
  2. If the link is not open yet, a countdown. Questions do not load.
  3. If you required a password, a password field. The questions stay hidden until it is accepted.
  4. Your name, required, and Email, optional.
  5. Start Exam. The timer is owned by the server from that moment. While the page stays open, answers are saved to that attempt. Reloading the page does not resume it — the student would be starting a new screen, not continuing the same one. Ask them not to refresh.
  6. One question at a time, with a way to move between questions and flag one to return to.
  7. Submit on the last question. When the timer hits zero, the attempt is submitted.

A closed, expired, revoked, or unknown link explains that the exam is unavailable. Ask the teacher for a new link. Editing the URL does not reveal answers or skip the password.

Short and long answersRecorded as pending until you check them

A result that still has written answers waiting is not a pass or fail. The percentage, when shown, covers the questions that could be scored automatically.

If you turned on Show answer key to students, correct answers can appear after submission. They are not shown on the question screen before that.

Submissions are on the exam under View Results. You can check pending written answers from there. The share link’s use count goes up when a submission succeeds, not when someone merely opens the page.
